  • This year's Emmy Awards go green with alternative energy and a recycled red carpet

The entertainment industry is catching on to the global cause to protect the environment by announcing that the Emmy Awards are going green.

The campaign on behalf of Fox is dubbed ‘Green with Emmy’ and the show’s Shrine Auditorium location will be powered by renewable energy for the whole of September, supplied from a combination of solar power, wind energy and hydropower.

In addition, a solar panel canopy will be set up over the red carpet grandstand, decreasing the amount of power used by generators. The solar panel will then be donated to a school in California.

To maintain the green ethos at the event, the red carpet will be made entirely of recycled plastic bottles and hybrid and alternative fuel transport will be used to ferry the stars around.

Everything has been accounted for, even the food. The campaign has sourced locally grown and organic food to be served to the guests all evening.
