Top restaurants named in bad hygiene report

The dirty secret Marco Pierre White and Gordon Ramsay have in common with Starbucks and Yo! Sushi

A NUMBER OF LONDON’S top restaurants have been named and shamed in a report on bad hygiene in the capital’s restaurants. Environmental health officers rated 80,000 restaurants for cleanliness, ranging from fast-food outlets to Michelin star eateries.

A number of celebrity chefs suffered poor scores, with Marco Pierre White’s Le Mirabelle and Aldo Zilli’s The Garrick Club both only gaining one star, described as ‘A poor level of compliance with food safety legislation. Much more effort required.’

Gordon Ramsay did slightly better, but still only gained two stars for his restaurant at The Savoy Hotel, meaning ‘more effort’ was needed for food safety. However, the chef did have reason to celebrate yesterday, after gaining his 12th Michelin star.

The lowest score of no stars went to 200 restaurants in London, which included branches of Starbucks and Yo! Sushi.
