Love Italian food? You're going to love the modern spin Frescobaldi puts on your favourite classics.

Is there anything more comforting, mouth-watering or family friendly than Italian food? It conjures up images of Nonna in the kitchen slowly cooking bolognese, or al fresco dining with generations upon generations. Enter Ristorante Frescobaldi, London's first standalone restaurant and bar in the UK from the famed Frescobaldi family of Tuscany in partnership with the Good Food Society.

Tucked away behind busy Regent Street, you'd be forgiven for thinking that this was one of London's best kept secrets. Here, the people 'in the know' dine, with Italian families welcoming their relatives around large white tablecloth tables, ready to dine on Frescobaldi’s menu of Tuscan food with influences coming from the food of Northern Italy and the Southern regions such as Puglia. Their pasta is handmade by chefs daily and all of their dishes are based on the best seasonal ingredients available - one of the many reasons to try this food haven.

A cocktail on the terrace is the only way to start the evening. With heaters at the ready, it's the perfect place for a pre-drink during summer or winter. No excuses. Plus, it's a great place to sample their set lunch menu. We, however, were there to sample their a la carte offerings.

Once we were shown to our table, we got to work on devouring the tasty morsels on offer. For starter we indulged in Crab bruschetta with chilli and asparagus and Lobster salad with saffron, both of which were as heavenly as they sound. Main was an event of Veal chop with spring vegetables and Sea bass with purple broccoli and pureed olives, both cooked to perfection and accompanied with sides of Fried courgettes. And for the finale, we devoured one of the best Tiramisùs we have ever tasted. Needless to say, the whole evening was full of flavour.
