Dressed in a striking red gown, with her cascading curls swept over in a side parting, Beyonce beamed as Obama nattered away inside the 40/40 nightclub that Jay-Z owns.

As she introduced the President to the 100 well-heeled guests, who had all paid $40,000 for a ticket, Beyonce said: ‘I can’t tell you how proud we are to host tonight’s event with President Obama. We believe in his vision.’

When he took the stage, Mr. Obama gushed over his celebrity pals, saying: ‘To Jay and Bey, thank you for your friendship.’

Before going on to praise Beyonce for being such a wonderful role model for his daughters, Malia and Sasha.

Obama has attended his fair share of celebrity fundraises in the run up to the November elections, including one at George Clooney’s home in Los Angeles.

Last night, Gwyneth Paltrow threw a fundraising event across the pond in London, which was attended by Cameron Diaz, Anna Wintour and Tom Ford.
