Hosted by Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Kevin Hart (who proved to be quite the comedic duo) the ceremony was packed with unforgettable moments. Missed it all? Fear not, here’s what you need to know…

Melissa McCarthy made history
Everyone’s favourite funny woman made both comedic and awards show history by becoming the first woman to win the MTV Comedic Genius award. After crowd surfing to the stage, her speech was brilliant: “I may be the first woman to win this award, but I am certainly not the first one to deserve it.

“I am only here because Carol Burnett, Jane Curtin, Phyllis Diller, Whoopi Goldberg, Teri Garr, Madeline Kahn, Lucille Ball, Gilda Radner, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Diane Keaton, Tracy Ullman, Bette Midler, Lily Tomlin, and my mom… taught me not to fear being the butt of the joke, taught me not to worry about being likeable or perfect, and to lovingly go for the kill.”

Leonardo DiCaprio stole the night
No, he wasn’t actually there sadly, but nonetheless Leonardo DiCaprio stole the night thanks to a rap from Dwayne and Kevin. We don’t think it’ll become a chart hit, but it certainly got everyone talking thanks to the chorus, ‘Leo got f****d by a bear’, which was repeated an awful lot.

Ryan Reynolds made a Blake Lively sex joke
While accepting his award for Best Comedic Performance following new superhero film Deadpool, Ryan Reynolds gave a rather quirky speech in which he dropped a sex joke about wife Blake Lively. Dedicating his performance to Blake, Ryan said: “Everything I do is to make her laugh. Especially the sex.”
