Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson managed to ride through recent rumours that she’d met up with Rupert Sanders while the British actor was away in New York and as a final act of defiance over the nasty allegations it's believed the couple will head to the MET Costume Gala together next month.

The duo are reportedly considering walking the red carpet together in a very rare official outing as a couple – the last time Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson made a public appearance was to promote the final Twilight film.

According to HollywoodLife self-confessed shy girl, Kristen has been the one to suggest the couple go together.

An insider told the publication: ‘She [Kristen Stewart] would love for Rob to attend the MET gala with her in New York in May. She knows Rob isn’t crazy about these types of events and having to dress up, but she has asked him.’

The Twilight alumni have had a spotlight on their private life ever since it emerged they were an item so it’s understandable that it may take Robert Pattinson some convincing to attend the prestigious fashion event.

The source added: ‘No word yet on whether or not he [Robert] can go or if he has a scheduling conflict, but he knows Kristen would be over the moon if he joined her.’
