  • Kate Middleton was spotted wearing a £17.50 dress from the high-street outlet while shopping in Chelsea last week

Kate Middleton might have the world’s greatest fashion designers on speed-dial, but when she’s shopping during an afternoon off work, it seems she favours a high-street bargain, just like the rest of us.

The heavily-pregnant Duchess of Cambridge was spotted wearing a navy blue belted maternity dress by ASOS last week – which was a snip at £17.50. The ‘soft jersey’ dress was down from £25.00 in the online retailer’s summer sale.

Described as ‘regular fit, with an elasticated waist to stretch comfortably over your bump’, the bargain dress looked stunning on Kate Middleton, who’s first child is due in mid-July.

The Duchess of Cambridge teamed the dress with a cropped fuchsia pink cardigan and grey espadrille wedges from Pied A Terre. She wore diamond drop earrings and kept her hair loose in its trademark bouncy waves.

With only five weeks until her rumoured due date, Kate Middleton is busy stocking up on essentials for her new home at Kensington Palace before her final solo public engagement in Southampton on Thursday.

Kate will attend the Princess Cruises naming ceremony before heading off to a private gala dinner with some special guests. She’ll then be lying low until the royal baby is born.

The pictures of Kate at interiors store Bernard Thorp in Chelsea were taken following the Queen’s Coronation service at Westminster Abbey on Tuesday.

Onlookers claim the Duchess purchased some beige and brown English handmade fabrics from the interiors shop, but some might say that her shopping trip is a hint at the baby’s sex. The store window was decked out in blue fabrics and teddy bears.

We’ll be keeping our eyes peeled in Chelsea this week. Now, time for a spot of online shopping…
