  • As Kate Middleton goes into labour, look back at her most memorable maternity style choices...

Kate Middleton has earned serious style points since joining the royal family, flying the flag for fashion in a series of designer pieces and high street fashion finds. And with a burgeoning baby bump to dress, we’ve found ourselves waiting on her every outfit.

So, to satisfy our style craving, we have decided to look back at every one of the Duchess of Cambridge’s pregnancy looks to date.

Forced to reveal her baby news early, due to a severe bout of morning sickness and a brief hospital stay, Kate Middleton made her first post-pregnancy appearance on the steps of the King Edward VII in London. What did she choose for her moment in the spotlight? A pretty Diane von Furstenberg Simyonette coat with ruffled sleeves, and pretty lilac scarf. Safe choice, but lovely, nonetheless.

After a period of rest at home, it was back to work for the Duchess, who showed the first hint of a pregnancy glow as she presented a Sports Personality of the Year award during the live ITV show. With all eyes on her, Kate’s sartorial choice of a flowing green Alexander McQueen gown certainly didn’t disappoint.

Next on Kate Middleton’s pregnancy hitlist was a pretty red Whistles dress, which she wore to the unveiling of her portrait at the National Portrait gallery. The very ‘Kate’ knee-length number skimmed over her curves and showed no sign of a baby bump. Yet.

Just weeks later a tiny baby bump was visible as Kate visited an Action On Addiction centre in London, in a Max Mara wrap dress (from the 2011 collection, no less), an Asprey 167 button pendant and Episode heels.

She may be expecting the years most talked about baby, but pregnancy hasn’t stopped Kate Middleton indulging her her favourite game of style snap. The Duchess recycled her favourite burgundy Hobbs Celeste coat for an outing to Grimsby, teamed with a pretty pleated dress from Great Plains, which promptly sold out around the country. No surprises there, then.

At the beginning of March, Duchess Kate took her baby bump on it’s first trip to the races, yet again proving that chic pregnancy styling is no match for her. For the outing, Kate chose a cosy camel coat and £488 Aquatalia by Marvin K brown boots, teamed with the jaunty matching £240 Lock & Co Betty Boop hat she’s worn twice of late. Spot on for a rainy day.

She may have suffered a little wardrobe malfunction (shoe heel caught in a drain, it’s happened to the best of us), but pregnant Kate Middleton recovered perfectly during a St Patrick’s Day visit to the 1st Battalion Irish Guards. The Duchess wowed in a green £1,150 knee-length belted coat dress by design darling Wickstead, which she first wore to the ceremony in 2012. We love it just as much the second time around.

After stepping out in a string of designer styles, pregnant Kate switched back to high street for a charity visit with Prince William, stepping out in a £46 black Tophop dress with a gorgeous white Peter Pan collar. Still no sign of maternity wear, but we love this look. Top marks.

With her baby bump becoming ever more visible, Kate Middleton didn’t compromise on her style choice for an outing on the London Underground with the Queen. Setting the pregnancy style bar high, the blooming Duchess delivered spot on styling once again in a teal blue By Malene Birger coat with pretty black beads. Accessorised with a baby on board badge, of course.

Looking every inch the radiant mum-to-be, Kate, predictably, chose tartan for a visit to Scotland with Prince William, and a blue and grey plaid Moloh ‘Workers’ coat with a price tag of £425.

Earning bonus style points for a recent pregnancy look, Kate Middleton showed off her trademark classic style in a striking scarlet Armani coat, which was first spotted at Prince William’s passing out parade in 2006, no less. Wow.

With Kate Middleton’s baby bump now firmly on show, the Duchess covered up in mint green Mulberry – this season’s hottest hue, of course – and her favourite Whiteley hat for an outing to a Scout Association event at Windsor castle.

Stepping out in Manchester to visit Wilmslow primary school, Kate Middleton dressed her baby bump in a printed £1,065 Erdem creation, just perfect for a sunny spring day. We have a feeling the royal baby will develop expensive taste…

Cementing her pregnancy style credentials once and for all, Kate Middleton finally made it into maternity wear, well, her version of, and a custom-made empire-line number by British design darling Emilia Wickstead. We. Love.

Kate Middleton picked pretty pastel shades – a £380 coat by Canadian designer Tara Jarmon and a dress by a private dressmaker – for her trip to Naomi House Hospice in Hampshire. Safe, but lovely nonetheless.

What does one wear for a visit to the Harry Potter studios in London? Topshop of course. To accompany Princes William and Harry and a group of children to the attraction in North London, Kate reached to the back of her wardrobe – and a polka dot high street piece. We. Love.

For the Queen’s annual garden party at Buckingham Palace, the now heavily pregnant Kate Middleton pulled out all the style stops and turned to one of her design favourites – Emilia Wickstead, and a £1,600 buttercup yellow coat dress. The only way to brighten up a gloomy day.

With her final royal engagement nearing and all eyes on her, Kate Middleton dressed her baby bump in a bespoke delicate daisy lace dress and a soft peach silk shantung jacket by British designer, Jenny Packham to attend the Queen’s 60th Coronation service in London. Spot on.

With maternity leave calling, pregnant Kate Middleton made one last solo appearance – at the launch of Princess Cruises’ new ship, the Royal Princess. For this, the Duchess shunned designer outerwear in favour of a £169 Dalmation coat dress from high street retailer, Hobbs. This is why we love you, Kate.

For her final official pre-pregnancy appearance, Kate dressed chose a pale pink Alexander McQueen coat and a matching Jane Corbett hat. Lovely.
