Duchess of York signs to ITV show as fat-fighting guru
The Duchess of York, Sarah Ferguson, is carving out her on-screen career by signing up to a new ITV show as a fat-fighting guru.
The two-part show, provisionally titled The Duchess In Hull, sees the duchess descend on a family of unhealthy eaters on a council estate and is set to air on ITV1 this summer.
The duchess is already a Weightwatchers ambassador and commented: ‘This programme is an attempt to explore solutions to the growing obesity problem in the UK. The family I met in Hull live in a way that I hadn’t experienced – feeding six on a week’s benefits.’
She continued: ‘I want to see whether we can help families all over the country, no matter what their budget, to improve their lifestyles through using what is already available to them in their community.’
A spokesman for ITV explained why the duchess was the perfect presenter from the programme saying her experience of eating disorders, low self-esteem, family conflict, financial crisis, divorce and bereavement would all help the Hull family to enhance their lifestyle.
The duchess is certainly getting stuck in – she’s already been spotted shopping with her new adopted family in budget supermarket Netto.
