While you were busy looking at all the lovely red carpet dresses from the 70th Cannes Film Festival, Bella Hadid was out winning at everything at the amfAR gala across town.

The model rocked up to the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in a glittering see-through gown by Ralph & Russo.

It featured a long train that literally looked like it was covered in diamonds. Queen Elsa, eat your heart out.

While Bella was clearly the queen of the night, there were other celebs that deserved a special sartorial mention.

Fellow Victoria’s Secret angel Barbara Palvin looked like an actual princess in a powder pink ballgown, which she sort of twirled in, because when you have a dress like that, you have to twirl.

We also loved Coco Rocha’s dramatic off-the-shoulder dress, designed by Jean-Paul Gaultier and Diane Kruger’s unconventional choice of a feather beaded top and trousers by Alexander McQueen.

Now it ain’t a Riviera party without a bit of glitter, and of that there was plenty.

Irina Shayk showed off her post baby body in a stunning silver sequin dress with a gold hem by Miu Miu.

Meanwhile Nicole Kidman, who's been impressing us on the red carpet so far, shimmered in a black Chanel frock with feathers and a delicate pink belt.

We don't know about you, but we'll be pretty sad to see the festival come to an end, now that we've gotten used to our daily delivery of incredible sartorial choices.

Penny grew up in France and studied languages and law at the Sorbonne Nouvelle University in Paris before moving to the UK for her MA in multimedia journalism at Bournemouth University. She moved to the UK permanently and has never looked back (though she does go back regularly to stock up on cheese and wine).

Although she's always loved fashion - she used to create scrapbooks of her favourite trends and looks, including Sienna Miller and Kate Moss' boho phase - her first job was at MoneySavingExpert.com, sourcing the best deals for everything from restaurants to designer sales.

However she quit after two years to follow her true passion, fashion journalism, and after many years of internships and freelance stints at magazines including Red, Cosmopolitan, Stylist and Good Housekeeping, landed her dream job as the Digital Fashion Editor at Marie Claire UK.

Her favourite part of the job is discovering new brands and meeting designers, and travelling the world to attend events and fashion shows. Seeing her first Chanel runway IRL at Paris Fashion Week was a true pinch-me moment.
