The Queen was joined by Prince Philip and Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie at the annual event
The Queen got her action-packed Diamond Jubilee celebrations off to a start over the weekend with a day out at Epsom Races, said to be one her favourite events of the year.
The monarch was joined by husband Prince Philip as she arrived at Epsom Downs, beaming as she made her way to the royal box to watch proceedings.
And they weren’t the only members of the Royal Family in attendance.
Prince Edward and the Countess of Wessex, Prince and Princess Michael of Kent and Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie were also in attendance.
But sadly there was no sign of Prince William and Kate Middleton, who caused a stir at last year’s event by attending in a dress by high street store Reiss.
Luckily, the weather was on their side, and the Queen enjoyed the sunshine in an eye-catching cornflower blue coat, blue and white silk dress by royal couturier Stewart Parvin, and matching hat by milliner Rachel Trevor-Morgan.
Meanwhile, Princess Beatrice wore a cream lace dress and matching hat, while Princess Eugenie opted for a hounds tooth checked number, with her favourite nude heels.
The family cheered and clapped as they watched on from their prime position, with the Queen looking positively radiant as she smiled from ear to ear during the events.
They were also treated to a performance by Welsh warbler Katherine Jenkins, as well as Britain’s Got Talent winners Ashley and Pudsey.
The Queen has a busy weekend ahead of her, with a River Thames pageant,Buckingham Palace Concert and royal procession all in the diary to mark her Diamond Jubilee – an amazing 60 years on the throne.
