The Oscar 2013 nominations have been announced with the hot contenders being Les Miserables star Anne Hathaway and Silver Linings Playbook lead, Jennifer Lawrence
The Oscars 2013 nominations have landed. Hot favourite, Anne Hathaway (Les Miserables) has been shortlisted in the Best Supporting Actress category, while Jennifer Lawrence (Silver Linings Playbook), makes an appearance in the Best Actress roll call.
OSCARS 2013 NOMINATIONS IN FULL
Anne Hathaway’s co-star, Hugh Jackman also received a nod for his performance in Les Miserables although he goes up against Silver Linings Playbook lead, Bradley Cooper. Both films dominate the Oscars list and feature in eight categories each, although the most nominated film is historical drama, Lincoln, with 12 nods, closely followed by Life of Pi, which recieved 11.
While the 2013 Oscars line up heavily features American stars, British actor, Daniel Day Lewis appears in the Best Actor category while Adele’s Skyfall track has been nominated for best Original Score.
After missing out on an Oscar in 2008, Anne Hathaway will need to fight off competition from Amy Adams (The Master) and Sally Field (Lincoln) to be sucessful this time round. Jennifer Lawrence will have to battle it out against stars incuding Naomi Watts (The Imposible) and Jessica Chastain (Zero Dark Thirty). The Oscar nominees were announced by Emma Stone and Seth MacFarlane this afternoon and the award ceremony will take place on 24 February.
