Kate Middleton is no stranger to wearing the same dress more than once, having been spotted in some of her most iconic gowns on two, or even three occasions.

And the Duchess of Cambridge indulged in a spot of style recycling once again last night, stepping out in an Alice Temperley dress she wore in January this year.

We first spotted Kate Middleton in the uber-glam, full length black Alice Temperley lace dress in January, as the played Hollywood starlet for the night and hit the red carpet at the premiere of War Horse in London.

At the time, Kate teamed her premiere number - complete with flowing skirt and velvet waistband - with a chic black clutch by Mascaro, heels and oodles of sparkle.

Fast-forward 10 months, and the Duchess's Alice Temperley dress has been given its second outing, this time at a 600th anniversary fundraising event for St Andrews University, held at Middle Temple.

This time, Kate teamed the dress - a red carpet-worthy ensemble if ever we saw one - with a sparkling crystal poppy, given to her by the British Legion and a matching scarlet clutch.

Kate stuck to her favourite immaculately coffered 'do for the evening event, leaving her luscious locks long, loose and beautifully blow dried. A sweep of black eyeliner, a nude lip and a pair of pretty pearl earrings finished off her evening look.

The event, which she attended with Prince William, was held to kick start a fundraising appeal to offer bursaries to students who otherwise could not afford to study at St Andrews university.

And the evening held special importance to Prince William and Kate Middleton, as the event brought 'happy, happy memories' of the place where the pair met.

In a speech, Prince William said: 'Tonight is very special for Catherine and me.

'It brings together two institutions that are dear to us: our alma mater, St Andrews University, and Middle Temple, our hosts here tonight. Both are world-renowned. Both are roughly of the same venerable age. We are proud to be so closely associated with them.

'We have been privileged to receive the best of university educations. Secondly, we all love St Andrews. We love it for the academic start in life it gives us.

'We love it for its traditions - traditions that lie at the very heart of Scotland’s history.

'We love it because it made us look beyond St Andrews, beyond the borders of Scotland, to the wide world.

'But perhaps most important of all, we love it for the friendships it has given us. The couple spent time mingling with fellow guests, before sitting down for the formal part of the evening.

One guest said of Kate Middleton: 'She clearly loved her time at St Andrews and it was obvious the way she and William spoke about each other that they are absolutely besotted with each other.'
