All eyes were on the Duchess of Cambridge as she handed out shamrocks to the 1st Battalion Irish Guards for St Patrick’s Day, but as the royal stepped back on giving the regiment’s mascot, Domhnall, an Irish wolfhound, his very own piece of shamrock the flashbulbs went into a frenzy as her heel got stuck in a grate.

It’s happened to us all, but perhaps not all of us could style things out as well as Kate Middleton. Unfazed by the slip up, the Duchess simply reached out to take her Prince William’s hand as she bent down to free her stiletto.

Instead of being red faced, she simply laughed it off, proving yet again that little can faze her.

Following the incident Kate Middleton took time to speak with soldiers and even showed concern that onlookers would be cold as they stood in the rain. Suzy Purcell, whose daughter Maisie handed the Duchess a bunch of flowers told the Daily Mail: ‘She [Kate Middleton] just came over and asked if they'd seen the dog and if we were cold.'
