Kate Middleton’s glossy hair and faultless make-up leave many of us mystified as to what she does to look picture perfect in every snap but now Marie Claire have uncovered the Duchess’ secret thanks to make-up artist Vivian Baker.

Having worked most recently with Michelle Williams on Oz: The Great And Powerful as well as Gwyneth Paltrow and Blake Lively, Vivian is well versed in celebrity beauty tricks. Which is why we had to ask what she thinks is behind Kate Middleton’s beauty look.

‘She's happy,’ Vivian tells us. ‘Joy is the best makeup trick.’

Of course that isn’t all Vivian uses when on set, as she revealed working in HD requires a lot of work on her part, saying: ‘These cameras see better than we see and then its projected bigger than life. The attention to detail was intense during Oz: The Great And Powerful.’

But of course it helps to have Michelle Williams’ natural beauty too as Vivian continues: ‘Michelle is incredibly collaborative, the technology in make-up has been crucial to handle the new cameras and when God delivers a beautiful subject, well it's another tool in my arsenal.’

But if we aren’t bless with either Michelle WIlliam’s beauty or Kate Middleton’s happiness then Vivian does have some suggestions for us mere mortals, ‘I have to have a good moisturizer,’ she stresses. ‘There are several I love 3-lab M Cream and Guerlian Aqua serum, a great concealer is cle de Peau and I always have a great bright Sensai lipstick.’
