They're just crying out for a flat lay

We're not sure exactly when stationery porn became a thing, but it was probably somewhere in between GCSE English Lit (if ever there was an opportunity to invest in 17 different shades of gel pen, this was it) and the realisation that logging your To Do list on your phone was all well and good - until you ran out of battery.

And then, of course, came the dawning of Instagram.

Because no matter how good your stationery collection might look on your desk, it looks even better when it's been cropped into a square and popped through a gentle series of photo editing techniques. And while our favourite bloggers have known this ever since they first balanced two chairs on top of each other and clambered up for flat lay's sake, for the rest of us, it's a bit trickier to know which pieces of scribble kit to invest in.

    Until now.

Scandinavia just keeps on giving. From happiness journals to gratitude lists and goal notebooks, this is desk paraphernalia at its cutest.

    Ban.Do

Apparently inspired by champagne and all night parties (what isn't?), Ban.Do are a Los Angeles brand, focusing on the fun side of design. Basically it's how we imagine Katy Perry's pencil case looked in high school.

    Ohh deer

Created as means for one London illustrator to make a living, Ohh deer is now a platform for 33 upcoming artists to sell their wares from all over the world. A lot of love has gone into this lot.

    Sloane Stationery

With thick leather and gold embossed designs - teamed with quick sharp captions - Sloane Stationery isn't just for West Londoners. We're obsessed with the Jet Set travel journal!

    Proud Couture

If you love style and wit in equal measure, luxury design brand: Proud Couture is for you, selling cards and prints of fashion illustrations and giving us all Instagram goals for life.

    Noi Publishing

If bright colours are your bag, you need to check out Noi Publishing. Skip past the kids stuff and head straight for the stationery section, and check out the cute cartoon designs. (Our favourites are the swimmers - complete with bathing caps.)

    Kate Spade

Nope, we can't afford the handbag either. Or the dress. But we can stretch to a journal and/or a couple of pencils. With metallics and geometric shapes a plenty, this lot will upgrade your instagram to the A list.

    Papier

Only one year old, Papier is based in London, and uses non-polluting, wind-generated energy for all its printing. Think pastels and watercolour designs - perfect for a thank you note.
