I'm genuinely excited about Rixo's new collab

What summer dressing is all about

Summer may not be on the horizon yet, but if fashion can manifest good weather, then Rixo's latest collaboration is going to bring a heatwave our way.

The cult London-based label has joined forces with LA-based brand Ciao Lucia for a collection that is making me so excited to (finally) ditch the layers.

Comprised of 12 pieces, the limited-edition capsule puts the focus on effortless summer dresses in luxe materials, that you can just throw on, for every occasion from weddings to BBQs.

The designs range from minimal black and white to printed designs, in a mix of silk, cotton, and viscose designs across mini and midi length dresses.

Rixo founders Orlagh and Henrietta have always championned unique prints and this collection is no exception. I particularly love the cherub print, which was hand painted by Orlagh, who took inspiration from a vintage vase found at an antique fair.

With both RIXO and CiaoLucia being female founded, independent brands with a lot of synergy in aesthetic, it felt like the perfect collaboration. The cherub print was hand painted by RIXO co-founder Orlagh McCloskey and was inspired by a vintage vase, found at an antiques fair.

"It’s such a small world, Lucy used to buy RIXO in her previous role, which is how we first met. We literally spoke over IG DM one evening and reminisced on the past few years and then quickly moved to a conversation about a collaboration... We’re very similar in the way we work and could both move quickly with no big corporate sign offs which has resulted in a collection that captures the essence of both brands perfectly," says Henrietta.

"The creative process allowed us to really ensure each piece felt like a mix of both our brands. We worked through each silhouette together and I hand painted the cherub print featured in the collection, a true RIXO signature print that compliments Ciao's beautiful check print," adds Orlagh.

The collection is available to buy now, with prices ranging from £265 to £325. Shop my favourite designs below.

Penny Goldstone is the Digital Fashion Editor at Marie Claire, covering everything from catwalk trends to royal fashion and the latest high street and Instagram must-haves.

Penny grew up in France and studied languages and law at the Sorbonne Nouvelle University in Paris before moving to the UK for her MA in multimedia journalism at Bournemouth University. She moved to the UK permanently and has never looked back (though she does go back regularly to stock up on cheese and wine).

Although she's always loved fashion - she used to create scrapbooks of her favourite trends and looks, including Sienna Miller and Kate Moss' boho phase - her first job was at MoneySavingExpert.com, sourcing the best deals for everything from restaurants to designer sales.

However she quit after two years to follow her true passion, fashion journalism, and after many years of internships and freelance stints at magazines including Red, Cosmopolitan, Stylist and Good Housekeeping, landed her dream job as the Digital Fashion Editor at Marie Claire UK.

Her favourite part of the job is discovering new brands and meeting designers, and travelling the world to attend events and fashion shows. Seeing her first Chanel runway IRL at Paris Fashion Week was a true pinch-me moment.
