We've found the best tops to update your wardrobe
If you’re looking to shake up your summer wardrobe a little bit – hey, nothing wrong with floral dresses or summer dresses, but sometimes a change is nice – then we’ve got the perfect alternative for you.
We’ve already waxed lyrical about how to do the off-the-shoulder trend this summer, and now it’s all about putting all that fashion advice to practice. By shopping this season’s best tops of course.
While the style was one of last year’s major players, this season it’s gotten an update, and there’s something to suit all styles.
You’ve got the Brigitte Bardot inspired retro styles – complete with paisley prints and floaty bell-sleeves, which you can team with high-waisted shorts or a midi skirt. Tick two trends in one by opting for a gingham print.
If you’re more of a modern woman at heart, check out high-street and designer versions in bold prints and luxe silks. Team those with structured culottes or palazzo trousers. And for minimalists, there are also many ways to subtly bare some skin this summer, especially if you’re going down the colour-blocking route.
And of course, seeing as it’s summer, there’s nothing wrong with going for a white top. teamed with a white broderie anglaise full skirt, Italian style.
If you need any further convincing that this is still the number one trend this season, look to Proenza Schouler, Chloé and Austaralian label Ellery for high-fashion renderings of the off-shoulder look, from luxe silks and rich embroidery to on-trend ruffles.
Magda Buturym, Tibi and Johanna Ortiz have proved the most popular mid-priced labels, but the high street has served us well with this one too. Topshop, Warehouse, Mango and Zara have plenty of cool off-shoulder styles for purse-friendly prices.
So make the most of the heatwave and scroll down to shop our favourite off-the-shoulder tops.
