McCanns approached to appear on Oprah Winfrey Show
Gerry and Kate McCann have been approached to appear on the Oprah Winfrey Show.
The couple have also been asked to talk to top ABC interviewer, Barbara Walters, the McCanns spokesman, Clarence Mitchell has confirmed.
However both television appearances have been discounted while Kate and Gerry McCann continue to remain official suspects in the case of their daughter, Madeleine’s, disappearance.
Mr Mitchell denied reports that both Oprah and ABC were in a bidding war over an exclusive interview with the McCanns saying: ‘There is categorically no truth to the suggestion that any sort of bidding war is currently taking place between American networks or American programmes.
‘Gerry and Kate will not be doing any sit-down interviews whilst they remain arguidos (suspects)… nor has any money for any such interview ever been discussed in any shape or form.’
Earlier this month, the McCanns refuted rumours of a potential movie deal about Madeleine’s disappearance. Gerry McCann admitted they had been approached by a ‘huge number of media outlets regarding a myriad of projects’, but that the had only agreed to a ‘tiny proportion’ of them.
