Paris Couture Week has got off to a strong start, both with the runway designs (Chanel, Giambattista Valli and Dior, we’re talking about you) and street style ensembles. Here, we pick out the best looks we’ve spotted in between the shows.

Could this be the perfect summer look? A bold trouser suit is a clever way to embrace summer (especially a British summer). Layer up and accessorise with key trends from the season. Metallic shoes are an easy way to stay ahead of the fash pack.

Summer is all about hats. Forget a boring trilby, it’s all about a wide brim.

Why not be brave and and go for a statement shoulder at a garden party or wedding this summer?

When it comes to accessories: go loud or go home.

The majority of us recoil in fear at the mention of a crop top, but this trend is here to stay. A flared sleeve (as per below) is a safe way to rock this look.

Remember: fashion should be fun. A manicured hand clutch bag? Sure, why not.

Flashes of silver were seen at the spring/summer shows last year (think Alexander Wang and Jonathan Saunders). Props to this style maven for her perspex heels and mirrored clutch.

Matching prints is the trend that won’t quit (we’re still lusting after the pretty print Carven suit that shimmied down the catwalks during the spring shows). Add to this some stand-out accessories and this fashionista has it nailed.

Supersize checks have been the style set’s go-to print this season. The turban and hat box are fabulous touches.

This look ticks off so many daring trends we don’t know where to start. Anyone who has the attitude to carry off a quilted crop top and silver jelly shoes is a true style star in our books.

Proof that clashing your dress with your shoes can work beautifully.

A lesson in how the leather trend can be weaved into an office-friendly ensemble.

Make like the style set and be sure an oversized clutch is a key part of your summer wardrobe this season.

This lovely lady has stolen our dream summer look: an ice-white maxi skirt, a 90s-inspired denim jacket and a ruby red Chanel bag. So simple, yet so effective.
