Where better to declare your A-list love than on the red carpet at the Met Gala?

It would probably be quicker to tell you which of our favourite A-list couples hasn’t ever attended the MET Gala, than to reel off the list of the most glamorous duos ever. But then we wouldn’t get to pore over the pictures, would we?

You see, finding a well-dressed plus-one for this particular fashion event is as important as finding the perfect frock – and if you haven’t got a hot date, hanging off the arm of your favourite designer can solve both of these problems at once.

Here are our favourite couples to ever hit the Met Gala red carpet…

Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik, 2016 Making things 'red carpet' official, Zayn and Gigi hit the Met Gala red carpet together this year arm in (Versace bionic) arm and spent most of the time gazing at each other.

Jason Statham and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, 2016 This duo love a red carpet power outing. For the 2016 Met Gala it all went very 'Inauguration ball' chic in simple black and white. Rehearsing for the wedding Rosie?

Zoe Saldana and Marco Perugo, 2016 These two engaged in some pretty major PDA at the Met Gala this year. Maybe it was something to do with Saldana's super-romantic feathery ballgown.

Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds, 2014 Oh these two. No one does a red carpet PDA quite like the Reynolds and at the 2014 Met Gala, they were beyond on form as they celebrated the announcement of Blake’s first pregnancy and her tiny new baby bump. If the rumours are true, she could be about to do the same again on Monday.

David and Victoria Beckham, 2008 Thought it couldn’t get more picture perfect than the Beckhams at the 2014 Met Gala? Well wait until you see their throwback picture from the event in 2008, below.

Robert Pattinson and FKA Twigs, 2015  R-Patz and FKA Twigs used 2015's Met Gala to make their red carpet debut as a couple. And what a debut it was. We couldn't take our eyes off Ms Twigs' Christopher Kane creation, which was totally arty and slightly bonkers.

George and Amal Clooney, 2015 Note George's matching pocket square... cute! The newlyweds whispered sweet nothings to each other at the Met Gala last year. Or was George just politely asking when they could stop posing and get the hell inside?

Beyoncé and Jay Z, 2015 They may have been mega-late, but Bey and Jay sure made sure they were worth the wait as they (read: she) slayed the red carpet in 2015. Queen Bey, without a doubt, made the most talked about appearance of the night in a custom, sheer Givenchy Haute Couture by Riccardo Tisci design. Jay Z did the only possible thing he could and looked on at his wife in awe.

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, 2015  It was business as usual for Kimye who pouted, preened and posed their way down the Met Gala red carpet at last year's event. Kim K opted for a very, very sheer gown by Peter Dundas for Robert Cavalli. It probably would have been the most talked about dress of the night, if it hadn't been for that blasted Mrs Carter. Next time, Kim.

Gisele Bundchen and Tom Brady, 2014 The Brady-Bundchen bunch are naturally quite photogenic – so where better to show off their sartorial prowess than on the world’s most glamorous red carpet? Here they are in 2014, reminding everyone that they are the Hollywood dream couple.

Kate Moss and Marc Jacobs, 2011 Hitting the ball with a designer BFF and being hailed a 'muse’ by your adoring public, has got to be the chicest way to actually rock the Met red carpet. The friendship goals to follow? Kate Moss and Marc Jacobs in 2011.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Jason Statham, 2011 Now Jason doesn’t strike us as the kind of bloke who loves a red carpet do. But even he popped on his best tux and took up his now-fiancée, Rosie’s, invitation to attend in 2011.

Well with people-watching opportunities like this, you would, wouldn't you?
