Yes Meryll!

Meryl Streep has to be one of our all-time favourite actresses. Not only is her work worthy of her many Oscars (small recap: she was nominate 20 times, and won three), but she always speaks up for what she believes in, like that time she called out Donald Trump at the Golden Globes.

In case you need a refresher, she addressed the fact he shamefully made a joke about a disabled reporter ('It kind of broke my heart when I saw it, and I still can’t get it out of my head, because it wasn’t in a movie. It was real life.')

Let’s just say she is certainly NOT overrated, despite what Trump might have you believe.

And now she’s shown her appreciation for former president Barack Obama and his wife Michelle, by carrying her belongings in a handbag… with their faces on it.

Meryl was spotted out and about toting the bag, which has an official portrait of the couple in front of the White House printed across it. She has always been a fervent supporter of the Obamas, speaking at an event hosted by Michelle's Mission To Educate Girls Around The World, and she was even given the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2014.

She later campaigned for Hilary Clinton (Trump called her a 'Hilary flunky'). It’s good to know we’re not the only ones to miss the former POTUS and LOTUS.

Who said fashion can’t get political?

Penny Goldstone is the Digital Fashion Editor at Marie Claire, covering everything from catwalk trends to royal fashion and the latest high street and Instagram must-haves.

Penny grew up in France and studied languages and law at the Sorbonne Nouvelle University in Paris before moving to the UK for her MA in multimedia journalism at Bournemouth University. She moved to the UK permanently and has never looked back (though she does go back regularly to stock up on cheese and wine).

Although she's always loved fashion - she used to create scrapbooks of her favourite trends and looks, including Sienna Miller and Kate Moss' boho phase - her first job was at MoneySavingExpert.com, sourcing the best deals for everything from restaurants to designer sales.

However she quit after two years to follow her true passion, fashion journalism, and after many years of internships and freelance stints at magazines including Red, Cosmopolitan, Stylist and Good Housekeeping, landed her dream job as the Digital Fashion Editor at Marie Claire UK.

Her favourite part of the job is discovering new brands and meeting designers, and travelling the world to attend events and fashion shows. Seeing her first Chanel runway IRL at Paris Fashion Week was a true pinch-me moment.
