The actress won't let her wedding planning get in the way of her humanitarian work

Angelina Jolie may be riding high on a wave of happiness since becoming engaged to Brad Pitt, but the actress hasn't let that get in the way of her humanitarian work.

The star, who recently became a UN Special Envoy, visited Ecuador over the weekend in order to better understand conditions for the thousands of refugees who have fled violence in neighbouring Colombia.

During a two-day visit, the Oscar winner visited impoverished Colombian refugees in the northern Sucumbios province, and also met Ecuadoran foreign minister Ricardo Patino.

The actress was appointed to her new post within the UN this month, and it will see her in a different role than she was performing when she was a goodwill ambassador for the UN High Commissioner for Refugees

UNHCR spokesman Adrian Edwards said last week: 'She is expected to focus on large-scale crises resulting in the mass displacement of people, to undertake advocacy and represent UNHCR and Mr Guterres at the diplomatic level, engaging with relevant interlocutors on global displacement issues.'

Keep up the good work, Ange.
