The model's teenage sweetheart died in a car accident
She and Orlando Bloom welcomed baby Flynn Christopher just months ago, and now model mum Miranda Kerr has told how she named her first child after her teenage sweetheart, who died in a tragic car accident.
Speaking for the first time about the significance of her tot’s middle name, Miranda revealed she wrote ex-boyfriend Christopher Middlebrook a letter after he died, promising to name her first child in his honour.
'Chris and I had been dating for two years,' the Victoria’s Secret beauty told Australia’s Daily Telegraph.
'After he died, I wrote him a letter that said I hoped to name my first child after him in some way,' she said, adding it was her actor hubby Orlando who suggested using Christopher as a middle name.
'I told Orlando and he was the one who said he'd be happy to do that. Orlando’s a good guy.’

Earlier this year, Miranda spoke of the sad incident in her book Treasure Yourself, telling how her 'whole world fell apart' after Chris died.
'We had been dating for two years, and I had just left Gunnedah [a remote town New South Wales, Australia] and moved to Brisbane when he was killed instantly in a car accident and all of a sudden it felt as though my world had fallen apart.
'Although we were only young, we had both talked about spending the rest of our lives together. I felt as if my heart had been ripped from my chest and I didn’t know what to do.'
'Chris’ death taught me that the people who touch your life are always with you.'
