Madonna splashes out £6m on house next door for personal gym
Fed up of being snapped in her less-than-glamorous workout gear, Madonna has coughed up £6 million to buy the house directly next to hers – to turn it in to a gym.
The super-fit star, well known for her punishing training schedules, planned to knock through so the gym was directly attached to her house. But, unfortunately, she’ll still have to walk 20 yards to train, as the planning permission was turned down.
One person who will be relieved is her chauffeur, who used to wait on yellow lines outside the St John’s Wood studio of her personal trainer James D’Silva twice a week while she did yoga inside, costing thousands in parking fines.
The Queen of Pop – worth an estimated 235 million – obviously decided enough was enough, and stumped up the cash for the ten bedroomed Georgian house next door.
The star, and her husband Guy Ritchie, already own five other properties around central London, as well as homes in Wiltshire, New York and Los Angeles.
It is understood that Madonna and the 39-year-old director fought off competition from Ab Fab actress Jennifer Saunders and celebrity photographer Mario Testino to snap up the property last June.
