  • Madonna hands over £2 million to Kabbalah in one year

It’s well known that Madonna is devoted to living by the teachings of Kabbalah, but her faith doesn’t come cheap – she’s donated nearly £2 million to the group this year alone.

Tax filings for her charitable foundation, called Ray of Light Foundation, revealed a total of £1.75m was given to the Kabbalah Centre of Los Angeles.

A further £2,600 was given to an offshoot of the group, Spirituality for Kids.

The money is believed to have paid for books and other items to be used in schools.

According to the Daily Mail, the figures were leaked from the 2007 tax filings for the Ray of Light Foundation.

But while Madonna gave generously to Kabbalah, reports from the US suggest she did not make donations to her Raising Malawi charity, the group set up to help the impoverished African country, from where she adopted little David Banda.

Madonna’s other kind-hearted donations include £200,000 to the Mobilization Against AIDS charity and £10,000 to the TJ Martell Foundation for Cancer Research.

The singer has a £300 million fortune and ticket sales from her last tour – Sticky & Sweet – grossed over £60 million.
