  • The Daybreak presenter has revealed she 'cried for 10 minutes' after the sports star popped the question over lunch

TV presenter Christine Bleakley revealed details of Frank Lampard’s surprise proposal earlier today, spilling the beans on how she ‘cried for 10 minutes’ when the sports star popped the question.

Speaking to colleagues on Daybreak this morning, Christine said she her beau’s proposal – over a romantic lunch in Los Angeles – was ‘completely out of the blue’.

‘I was beyond shocked,’ the newly-engaged anchor revealed of the proposal. ‘And it wasn’t very glamorous, it wasn’t very fancy – I know maybe some people might expect that.

‘It was very personal, very private actually, and we were just having a gorgeous lunch by the beach and he simply popped the question, it was completely out of the blue.’

Speaking of how she ‘burst into tears’ once she realised what was happening, Christine explained: ‘He started to build up to it and he got a little bit lovey-dovey. And half-way through the lovey-dovey bit, I realised what he was about to do so I started to cry.

‘I started to cry for about ten minutes and then he pulled the ring out and said “Will you marry me?” and that was it!’

Frank and Christine began dating in October 2009, after they met at the Sun’s Pride of Britain Awards. Christine was previously engaged to Dublin restaurant owner Christina Stokes in 2004, while Frank has two daughters with ex-fiancée Elen Rivas.
