Boden's new collection has landed and it's just what you need to brighten up what feels like the longest winter ever.

First off, the winter coat game is strong. Forget about boring grey coats (although we'll never tire of camel coats), it's all about colour blocking here. Even the Duchess of Cambridge is a fan, as she recently wore this red Boden coat to an official engagement. If red isn't your colour, there are sleek acid green, bright yellow and fuschia options for you to chose from.

Boden also give good shoes, and whether you're looking for quirky ankle boots or flats, you'll be spoiled for choice. Embellished ballet flats are a Boden must, and the tassel slippers are just what you need to dress up a suit in winter. The SS18 collection has started dropping too, and we're seeing lots of bright espadrilles, wedges and cut-out sandals.

New to Boden are also the fun fashion trainers that add a casual vibe to the brand's usually dressier offering. The bee print in particular is it. Pair these with a colourful knit (who doesn't love cashmere?) and straight jeans for a nice weekend look.

As for dresses, you can expect more colours and playful prints on your favourite dresses, with a vintage spin of course. The midi dresses with turnover collar are particularly great if you're in a workwear slump that you need to get out of ASAP.

Then there's the ever-popular Boden Icons collection, a premium line revisiting the brand's classics. This line always sells out quickly, so buy it now or regret it later. The current line is all about high neck blouses, military style jackets and retro prints, and we can't wait to see what the next one will bring.

Penny Goldstone

Penny Goldstone is the Digital Fashion Editor at Marie Claire, covering everything from catwalk trends to royal fashion and the latest high street and Instagram must-haves.

Penny grew up in France and studied languages and law at the Sorbonne Nouvelle University in Paris before moving to the UK for her MA in multimedia journalism at Bournemouth University. She moved to the UK permanently and has never looked back (though she does go back regularly to stock up on cheese and wine).

Although she's always loved fashion - she used to create scrapbooks of her favourite trends and looks, including Sienna Miller and Kate Moss' boho phase - her first job was at MoneySavingExpert.com, sourcing the best deals for everything from restaurants to designer sales.

However she quit after two years to follow her true passion, fashion journalism, and after many years of internships and freelance stints at magazines including Red, Cosmopolitan, Stylist and Good Housekeeping, landed her dream job as the Digital Fashion Editor at Marie Claire UK.

Her favourite part of the job is discovering new brands and meeting designers, and travelling the world to attend events and fashion shows. Seeing her first Chanel runway IRL at Paris Fashion Week was a true pinch-me moment.
