Kate Middleton's understated elegance has had us cooing for months, but now the Duchess has proved she's just as adept when it comes to the glamorous side of style, positively wowing at The Ark charity gala last night.

Stepping out for her first big public event since marrying Prince William in April, the Duchess of Cambridge flew the flag for British fashion in a Jenny Packham floor-skimming nude gown with all-over sequin detailing, that shimmered to beautiful effect.

Staying true to her reputation as the reigning queen of high street style, she accessorised with coordinating L.K. Bennett bow-back heels and a box clutch.

The royal couple joined a host of high profile figures and celebrity faces at the event, held at Kensington Palace, sharing a table with Colin Firth, Jemima Khan and Liz Hurley, among others.
