The shorts are short, and so are the skirts and dresses
Short is definitely the buzz word for spring/summer 10. Not just in the literal sense of the word (i.e. all the actual shorts on the runways in New York this week), but the hemlines, too.
At Alberta Ferretti’s Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti show earlier in the week, where the vibe was youthful, bright and breezy (reflecting an upbeat mood that has happily permeated plenty of the city’s new-season collections), short was definitely the order of the day.
From the cute babydoll dresses and micro minis, to the shrunken, cropped blazers and sporty running shorts, everything was designed to show off plenty of toned and tanned leg.
Mind you, Ferretti didn’t have seduction in mind with this collection which, with its candy-coloured stripes and pop-art lipstick prints, was more preppy than sexy. To this end, there wasn’t a heel in sight, with all the models sporting two-tone lace-up flats instead.
