And we love him for it.

Ryan Reynolds is one of the most popular men in Hollywood, and whether he’s saving his nephew’s life, getting very real about fatherhood or giving a girl advice about her ex, it is easy to see why.

This week (unsurprisingly) he made the Internet swoon for being an absolute gentleman, congratulating a film for overtaking his own in the box office.

Deadpool is the biggest R-rated movie ever, with the 2016 science fiction action film smashing sales records and even making history earning itself two Golden Globe nominations – the first superhero film to have ever been nominated for Best Picture.

Just this week however, Ryan’s film was surpassed by another superhero movie, Wonder Woman.

The female-led and directed film, starring Gal Gadot and directed by Patty Jenkins, has dominated the box office since its release in May, grossing over £282 million and overtaking Deadpool.

It was clear from the start however that there was no bad blood, with Ryan quick to prove that friendship was stronger than box office sales. The 40-year-old took to social media to congratulate Gal Gadot and the whole team for Wonder Woman’s success.

‘The Merc May Be Filthier, but Her B.O. is Stronger. Congrats #WonderWoman #BoxOfficeBoss’, he posted to Twitter, to which Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins replied, ‘You are the absolute greatest, Ryan Reynolds @VancityReynolds Thank you! We love you and your movie too. #deadpool #deadpool2’

It’s nice to hear that true friendship is alive and well in the industry.
