Mischa Barton urges switch bottled water brand for World Water Day
Mischa Barton is urging us to help change the lives of millions by swapping bottled water brands, as part of World Water Day.
The LA starlet is backing the Switch for Africa scheme by appealing to Brits to ditch their usual water and buy a bottle of ‘One’ water, an ethically bottled water brand which sees all profits go towards providing clean, safe drinking water for villages and schools in Africa.
There are currently 1.1 billion people worldwide who don’t have access to clean drinking water and 2 million people die every year from diseases related to unsafe water.
One year after the initial launch of the Switch for Africa campaign, shoppers in the UK have enabled the installation of a 101 PlayPump water system, providing clean drinking water to over 252,500 Africans, by purchasing bottles of One water.
Mischa Barton commented as One’s new ambassador saying: ‘The installation of so many PlayPumps is a great achievement. Not only have UK shoppers provided clean and safe drinking water for schools and communities but this means that children can be children; they can go to school, they can get an education and they can play.’
One water is available to buy at the following stores: Co-Op, Morrisons, Tesco, Waitrose and Total petrol stations.
