The Queen is known to have a sweet relationship with her daughters and granddaughters in law, with the monarch known by the royal ladies as ‘Mama’.

Queen Elizabeth’s relationship with Meghan Markle has made the most news this past year due to the constant scrutiny the Duchess of Sussex has been put under by the tabloids, with the monarch seen to take the former Suits actress under her wing.

Meghan has been allowed to break protocol on numerous occasions, with her mother even invited to the royal family’s Christmas lunch.

This unsurprisingly led the public to assume that Meghan was the Queen’s favourite, but according to royal experts, the royal family member that the Queen is currently a huge fan of is Kate Middleton.

’The Queen is a fan,’ a source recently told Vanity Fair of the Duchess of Cambridge. ‘Kate is unflappable. Her mantra is very like the Queen’s keep calm and carry on approach in life, and she has the added benefit of making the Royal Family seem almost normal and in touch.’

Kate impressed the Queen so much it seems that she was even given the Royal Family Order - reportedly the highest honour that a female royal can receive.
