Anne Hathaway and Marion Cotillard hit the red carpet in style last night for the New York premiere of this summer's most eagerly-anticipated blockbuster, The Dark Knight Rises.

But while the film's themes are dark and edgy, its two leading ladies dazzled in icy white at the screening at the city's AMC Lincoln Square Theatre.

Anne Hathaway, who plays Catwoman in the film, chose a Grecian-inspired jersey gown wih a daring plunging neckline and a touch of jewel embellishment on the front from the Prabal Gurung cruise 2013 collection. She teamed the dress, which also featured an on-trend peplum and a cowl back, with a pair of diamond stud earrings, a silver bracelet and natural make-up.

Current Marie Claire cover girl and Christian Dior muse Marion Cotillard, meanwhile, wore a dress from the French fashion house (naturally). The Oscar-winning actress opted for a ballerina-esque shift dress with a gorgeous beaded bodice and a tulle layered skirt, which she accessorised with a pair of silver Christian Louboutin heels and some statement earrings.
