Beyonce has been appointed honorary chair of this year's Costume Institute Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, it has been revealed.
In what is already turning out to be a bumper summer for the singer, she will now reportedly join co-chairs including actress Rooney Mara, Givenchy's Riccardo Tisci and magazine editrix Anna Wintour in hosting the biggest event in the fashion calendar.
According to WWD, the songstress' name is listed on recently issued invitations to the star-studded event, dubbed the Met Ball, which will take place on 6th May. While still unconfirmed, this could see her stand on the red carpet receiving line to greet the gala's A-list guests.

This year's benefit celebrates the upcoming punk culture exhibiton at the museum, entitled Punk: Chaos to Couture, which will run from 9th May to 14th August.
The appointment comes during a busy time for the singer. As well as the possible Met Ball appearance, Beyonce will headline the Gucci-hosted Chime for Change concert in London in June, embark on her own Mrs Carter Show world tour this summer, headline the UK's V Festival in August and release her fifth solo album.
