Beyonce kills it in Lupita Nyong’o’s Gucci dress

All eyes were on Beyonce and Blue Ivy last night at the Beauty & The Beast premiere, and while you might have been distracted by Blue Ivy’s hidden message to Adele, you probably missed the fact you’ve seen Bey’s dress before.

In fact, the stunning bright green Gucci number was worn by none other than Lupita Nyong’o at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival.

Lupita made the most of the embellished maxi, twirling her way up the red carpet. Let’s be honest, this dress, with its silk pleats, was absolutely made for twirling, and Lupita worked it like a pro.

Fast forward a couple of years, and Beyonce resurrected the frock, making it her own. Going for the statement look, she matched the heavy beading on the dress with some oversized gemstone earrings.

And while Lupita wore green shoes with hers, Beyonce opted for some gold heels. Because Beyonce.

So, who wore it best? Honestly, they both look like goddesses in their own right, so it’s a tie.

Penny grew up in France and studied languages and law at the Sorbonne Nouvelle University in Paris before moving to the UK for her MA in multimedia journalism at Bournemouth University. She moved to the UK permanently and has never looked back (though she does go back regularly to stock up on cheese and wine).

Although she's always loved fashion - she used to create scrapbooks of her favourite trends and looks, including Sienna Miller and Kate Moss' boho phase - her first job was at MoneySavingExpert.com, sourcing the best deals for everything from restaurants to designer sales.

However she quit after two years to follow her true passion, fashion journalism, and after many years of internships and freelance stints at magazines including Red, Cosmopolitan, Stylist and Good Housekeeping, landed her dream job as the Digital Fashion Editor at Marie Claire UK.

Her favourite part of the job is discovering new brands and meeting designers, and travelling the world to attend events and fashion shows. Seeing her first Chanel runway IRL at Paris Fashion Week was a true pinch-me moment.
