Victoria Beckham has revealed her favourite weight loss secrets are packed inside one book – and we can own it too!
Victoria Beckham’s diet tricks have included munching on frozen grapes and seaweed, but now there appears to be a new weight-loss plan that we can all stomach. The designer is the latest A-lister to follow the Honestly Healthy Alkaline Programme.
Other celebrities to trial the diet include Gwyneth Paltrow, Jennifer Aniston and Kirsten Dunst who focused their eating habits around alkaline foods in order to keep the body’s pH between 7.35 and 7.45. The diet claims it can heal certain ailments as well as contributing to weight loss.
Last week, Victoria Beckham was keen to share the details of the diet plan with her many fans, tweeting a photo of the book with the caption: ‘Love this healthy eating cook book!! Xvb’
Tempted to try it? It’s not for the faint-hearted, while you can enjoy sweet-potato chocolate brownies and artichoke and basil pizza, the ultra-strict regime bans acidic-forming foods including all dairy products, meat, fish, pasta, wheat and beans.
Also ruled out are alcohol, sugar, tea and coffee as well as all fizzy drinks. The book’s authors, Vicki Edgson and organic chef Natasha Corrett, believe just 30 per cent of our diet should be acidic and the rest alkaline – predominantly fruit and vegetables. They believe acidic foods put pressure on the liver and kidneys and that their diet will improve energy levels and memory as well as combating headaches, bloating, heart disease and insomnia.
