To mark Victoria Beckham’s 39th birthday her friends explain why she’s a fashion icon

Victoria Beckham turns 39 today (Wednesday) and first in line to wish her a very happy birthday on Twitter were her celebrity friends and former band mates, Geri Halliwell and Melanie Chisholm.

Along with birthday wishes from Mel C that read: ‘Happy Birthday to the beautiful @victoriabeckham Have a lovely day darling xxx’ she recently gushed about her friend’s incredible success.

Mel told the Daily Mail: ‘To have come from a pop group to be respected in the fashion world – we have so much respect for her for doing that, and she’s worked bloody hard to get there. It’s not a secret that her passions lie elsewhere [in fashion].’

Of course the former Spice Girl isn’t the only star to admire Victoria Beckham’s talents, Eva Longoria couldn’t help but praise her designer friend when we caught up with the actress recently telling us: ‘I look fantastic because I’m wearing Victoria Beckham’s dresses. I think Victoria’s talent is unmatched by anyone right now.’

But her biggest fan has to be husband David Beckham, he revealed to Interview magazine that he believes his wife’s job is more impressive than his. David said: ‘She comes home and shows me what she's been doing all day and what exciting dresses and bags she's got coming through. And then I say something boring like "I got kicked today."’

And as she continues another year of her reign as queen of fashion Victoria Beckham couldn’t sum things up better than this, saying: ‘I love fashion, and I love changing my style, my hair, my make-up. Everything I have done in the past has made me what I am now’
