The sad reason why a Friends reunion is never gonna happen...
This news is just the WORST
This news is just the WORST
We’ve been spoiled lately. So many of the TV shows we know and love have either already made their way back to the silver screen (or our laptops) or will within the next year or so — we’ve had everything from Gilmore Girls, Full House, and Arrested Development to X-Files and Twin Peaks. But today we’ve learned that there’s one show out there that will NEVER make another episode, and that show is our beloved Friends.
Nooooooooooo!
Why? Because Friends is a show about just that — and when those friends start having kids and getting married, it becomes a totally different show.
Co-creator of the hit series, Marta Kauffman, recently told Deadline: “Friends was a show about that time in your life when your friends are your family, and in a weird way, this isn’t that different. Once you start having family of your own it changes, and the show was over. A show has a lifespan I believe, it has a lifespan like anything else, and there’s no reason to continue doing it just because people miss the characters.”
She also had some thoughts on how to accept and embrace this news:
“Watch the old ones, there is no way we could win that. And there’s no way it would be satisfying and it’ll never happen. We’ll never do it.”

Ugh, we get it, but we don’t like it.
In case you missed it, there WAS a reunion of sorts a few months back on NBC. Everyone but Matthew Perry attended (he later made an appearance on a pre-taped video clip). It’s not the good old days necessarily, but there were some cute moments.
“We really just wanted to hang out with each other,” Jennifer said during the special with Andy Cohen. “We fell in love adored with each other instantly. And would hang out at each others’ houses and watch the show together.”
So cute.
RIP Friends.
