The Great Gatsby is one of the most highly-anticipated films of the year so to mark it’s arrival in UK cinemas this month, Marie Claire have an exclusive clip to share that shows Carey Mulligan making her debut as Daisy Buchanan.

In the snapshot scene from The Great Gatsby Carey Mulligan is picture perfect in a soft ivory shade with her dress dripping in ruffles as she perches on the side of a sofa sipping champagne. Her hair is worn in a traditional 20s style with drop pearl earrings also been shown off alongside a collection of jewels.
The British actress shares the screen with Tobey Maguire who takes on the role of Nick Carraway - a example of perfect casting. As the characters talk the camera spans out to unveil a stunning room with pastel shades lighting up the set.

The love affair that is to follow is also hinted at with Carey Mulligan’s character, Daisy taking a deep pause with a subtle strain in her voice when she mentions the name ‘Gatsby’.
