Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart to spend Christmas apart

Robert Pattinson will be with his family during the festive period and the invitation isn’t extended to Kristen Stewart

Robert Pattinson may have forgiven Kristen Stewart for the whole Rupert Sanders affair saga, but his family will take a little more time. The couple, who reunited just before the Twilight Breaking Dawn Part 2 promotion began, will spend Christmas apart.

It’s believed the Brit’s family are finding it difficult to welcome Kristen back into their lives.

While the couple were all smiles for Breaking Dawn Part 2 premieres and photo calls around the globe, once the cameras had stopped, it appears tensions were still high. Kristen may have celebrated Thanksgiving with Robert and his family but it failed to heal all of the wounds and she won’t be back for Christmas.

A source told Heat: ‘Rob’s family made it clear that they really want to see him over Christmas and, after the intense promotional tour for Twilight, Rob liked the idea of spending time alone with his family.’

And by alone, they mean minus Kristen. The informer added: ‘Rob’s mum wanted him to spend Christmas with them in London and, before their trip to the UK, that had been his and Kristen’s plan. From London, they were going to fly to Mexico for New Year.’

Although, after a somewhat awkward Thanksgiving meal, the plan had changed, the insider continued: ‘They had a meal on Thanksgiving and it was nerve-wracking for Kristen. She felt very uncomfortable and Rob’s sisters couldn’t be completely welcoming. It won’t go back to normal straight away, even if Rob has decided to try again.’
