Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart named Forbes' highest grossing romantic couple

Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart have had a good year, according to new reports…

Their relationship is rumoured to be on the rocks, but it's not all bad for Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart.

The Twilight pair have been crowned Forbes' highest grossing romantic couple of the last three years, with the franchise pulling in an impressive $3.3 billion since hitting screens.

The Hollywood hot stars, famous for playing Edward Cullen and Bella Swan in Stephenie Meyer's record breaking vampire adaptation, beat off stiff competition from a host of on-screen couples to clinch the title.

It's thought together, they are worth more than $100 million.

There is something unique about these films in the way that people have attached themselves to them,' said Dorothy Pomerantz of Forbes.com.

Figures were compiled by looking at the top grossing romantic films across the states, adding the totals for each couple's box office.

Following Rob and Kristen on the list were Rachel McAdams and Channing Tatum, who had audiences sobbing during 2012 romantic hit The Vow, while Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher, Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth and Zac Efron and Taylor Schilling also featured.

Last week Robert Pattinson touched down at Melbourne airport with just his guitar for company, while the Kristen Stewart split rumours raged.

According to insiders, Rob called time on his relationship with Kristen before the Golden Globes last weekend.

'She flew to LA and was supposed to be Rob’s date for the Golden Globes, but he told her he wants to cool it off,' a source told the Sun.

'He loves her but would rather go back to being good friends so they can rebuild their trust and focus on work after Twilight.

'Kristen’s upset but understands. She shouldn’t have pushed him to reconcile after her infidelity. She’s hoping he’ll come round and time will be a great healer.'

The source added: 'He was getting so much pressure to ditch her. His friends told him to focus on his career and said she was wrecking his chances.'

Some outlets later alleged Rob and Kristen have agreed on a trial separation, with Kristen willing to do 'whatever it takes' to win Robert Pattinson back.

Gossipcop.com later shot down the claims.
