We cannot wait for this

Sometimes, the internet makes dreams come true and rallies together for a common, wonderful cause — and that’s exactly the case with the Rihanna and Lupita Nyong’o buddy movie that’s now in the works, according to Entertainment Weekly. Needless to say, we are SO excited.
The dynamic duo are set to co-star in a project — hold your horses, because this gets even better — that’s directed by Ava DuVernay (Selma, A Wrinkle in Time), with Issa Rae (Insecure) in negotiations to write.
Netflix picked up the project at the Cannes Film Festival, surely much to the dismay of multiple other interested parties. Please excuse us while we hyperventilate into a bag to cope with all of the feels.
You have Twitter to thank for the forthcoming masterpiece. It all started with a user calling attention to a photo of the Grammy winner and Oscar winner sitting side by side at the Miu Miu Fall/Winter runway show at the Paris Fashion Week 2014, catalysing a phenomenon.
That prompted a response from another user, who we should all be bowing down to right about now for the brilliance that is this observation.

Another user then chimed in, suggesting a film should be made. Twitter soon rallied support, but what happened next is what will blow your mind.

The verdict is still out on how true the project will be to the original idea, Entertainment Weekly reports, but whatever direction it goes we’re sure it’ll be a-mazing.
The outlet adds that Rae is reportedly already writing the screenplay and the studio is aiming to kick off production in 2018, when DuVernay frees up.
You know what that means? Official countdown begins now, because this cannot come soon enough.
