Rihanna's personal life may have featured a few lows in the past, but when it comes to her professional success, she's on a constant up. Yesterday, the Bajan beauty unleashed her latest musical offering, Diamonds, onto the airwaves, and the result was astounding.

Overnight Diamonds has been downloaded across the globe and is now top of the iTunes chart in 15 countries including Argentina, Norway and Spain.

Noticeably stunned by her own success, Rihanna shared the good news on Twitter this morning expressing her delight saying: 'Im floored and humbled! Thanks to everybody y'all are the greatest [sic]'

The singer included a photo with her post of a screen grab of the iTunes top ten in the 15 countries that have Diamonds sitting pretty in the number one spot.

While fans appear to adore the new track critics’ reactions have been mixed with the Telegraph dubbing the track ‘a chugging, faintly misty-eyed, middle of the road pop song.'

MTV on the other hand have high praise for Rihanna’s 21st single in three years, and mention the star’s growth as an artist and woman. They write: ‘She displays a marked level of (dare I say it?) maturity, one evident in the restrained production and perhaps best exemplified by the first mantra she lays on us: "I choose to be happy."’

And she's certainly chosen to be happy today!
