Penelope Cruz turned lacy lacy lady at the premiere of new flick To Rome With Love in New York last night, smouldering for the cameras in a slinky plum cocktail dress.

The actress has been keeping a low profile of late, following the birth of her son Leo to hubby Javier Bardem in January, last year.

But last night Cruz was back to her scene-stealing best as she hit the publicity trail for new Woody Allen movie, To Rome With Love.

The starlet chose a sexy, shoulder-baring plum lace dress embellished with tiny crystals for her red carpet appearance, adding matching peep toe heels and a tiny clutch for the occasion.

A smattering of diamond jewels, a beautiful, bouncy blow-dry and smokey, sultry stare finished off her dazzling red carpet look.

Earlier this week, the actress gushed over her experiences of reuniting with Woody Allen on the movie, revealing: 'I would love to work with him 20 times. I'm fascinated by his personality. Even a day of press, which is not my favorite part of this job, he makes it so interesting and so fun.'

'I love playing someone that has no mental filter, that says everything that she feels. It's very liberating. I'm not very much like that, a little bit more controlled.'
