Mischa Barton‘s week is going from bad to worse. With no news on when she will be released from hospital, producers of her new TV show, The Beautiful Life, are said to be lining up replacements for her part.

The former OC star was set to play a lead role in the show, which is being produced by Ashton Kutcher and will co-star Elle Macpherson. However, even though the filming start date has been pushed back by a week – apparently due to the fact sets weren’t yet ready, rather than because Mischa couldn’t be present – producers are already working on a plan B.

Rather than directly replace Mischa’s character, Sonja Stone, insiders claim a new character, possibly called Jane, would be brought in to fill the void with casting already underway.

Gossip about what exactly pushed Mischa into care, meanwhile, continues to circulate, with one friend of the actress telling People magazine it was all to do with  body issues.

‘She has big self-esteem issues… She hates her legs,’ the source said. ‘She isn’t comfortable with her body. It’s been a big source of stress and self-hate.’

Another claims, ‘She had a big problem with those photos of her cellulite… She didn’t like it.

‘That just was something that contributed to her spiraling but she didn’t do much to fix it because of her partying.’

However, other friends don’t believe Mischa was thin-skinned enough to let tabloid headlines get to her and her issues now have nothing to do with her weight. ‘I never saw her diet,’ insisted another pal interviewed by People.
