Mischa Barton explains the secret to Kristen Stewart’s success

EXCLUSIVE! Mischa Barton reveals why stars including Kristen Stewart and Scarlett Johansson have made it big

Kristen Stewart forms part of a long list of Hollywood hard hitters who first found fame in their childhood. So when Marie Claire met with Mischa Barton, who starred in her first major film at just seven, we wanted to know what she thinks of the pressues of starting a career so young.

HAS ROBERT PATTINSON BROKEN UP WITH KRISTEN STEWART?

Mischa told us: ‘Child star is a weird label I’ve been acting since I was young. There’s people who blew up when they were really young and are famous for one thing but then there are other people who have worked their whole lives and that includes everyone from Kristen Stewart to Scarlett Johannson.’

Keen to explain why these stars have managed to continue such success through to adulthood, Mischa added: ‘Actresses who were quite young [when they started] and are successful now have a strong work ethic ingrained into them early on.’

Of course, with a huge film career comes a lot of pressure and media intrusion, something which makes Mischa empathetic towards other stars.

‘No actor’s career is ever perfect,' Mischa tells us. 'Some people have easier rides that others but all share a similar solidarity that you understand each other and your work.

‘There’s empathy there, for what they [other actresses] go through and what it’s like to work your whole life on film. People forget how much work goes in to making a film, it’s not an overnight success story.’
