Noooooo!

When Meghan Markle channeled her inner Cate Blanchett and stepped out in a fierce Givenchy suit in Ireland, we audibly gasped. It was a refreshing breath of fresh air for the royal family’s wardrobe and she looked incredible in it, however unfortunately we might be seeing less of her power-dressing this autumn. It turns out that not everybody in the royal family is pleased with her fashion choices and reportedly, even Prince Harry has said the look wasn’t ‘traditional enough’.

According to a source for the Daily Mail, the Suits actress and Prince Harry have been a unit as they navigate Meghan Markle’s style evolution. Designers have been bringing in their ‘special projects teams’ to whip up pieces for the new royal and apparently Prince Harry’s been sitting in on the brainstorming sessions.

The royal couple are heading out to New Zealand and Australia this autumn for a tour and they’ve been busy figuring out their wardrobes, however there’s one particular tuxedo that won’t be coming with them. It’s been said that when Meghan chose a Stella McCartney tux for an evening do, Prince Harry nixed it immediately.

The source said, ‘Meghan is being told she needs to stop dressing like a Hollywood star and start dressing like a Royal. Meghan wanted to wear a tuxedo-style suit but Harry said it wasn’t traditional enough.’

Beyond her Givenchy suit, Meghan previously wore an Alexander McQueen suit to the Endeavour Awards earlier this February. Although Queen Elizabeth apparently really isn’t into the idea of ladies wearing trousers, Meghan Markle’s been rocking some pretty amazing ones recently - we still can’t get over her white flares at Wimbledon.

Here’s hoping that Harry and the rest of the royals come around and let Meghan flex her sartorial muscles a little, as we know she has it in her to become as big a royal style icon as Princess Diana.

I mean, if Meghan decides to throw all caution to the wind and step out in a dazzling pastel trouser suit in Aus then we certainly wouldn’t complain.

(Do it, girl. We’re rooting for you.)
