But did it once belong to Diana herself?

It's been a big week for Meghan Markle as she carried out her first solo public engagement with the Queen.

The pair visited Cheshire on Thursday, with the Queen granting Meghan a privilege usually reserved for senior royals only.

After wearing this tribute to Princess Diana for Trooping the Colour, Meghan's accessories this week were also a nod to her husband's late mother.

The Duchess of Sussex wore a gorgeous pair of diamond and pearl drop earrings for the occasion.

Royal fans were quick to point out the similarities with one of Diana's favourite pairs, with many speculating that they once belonged to the Princess of Wales.

Pictured below on a tour of Canada in 1983, Princess Diana often wore the drop earrings to public engagement and events.

But are they the same pair?

Despite their striking resemblance, they are in fact different earrings, as Meghan's were a gift from the Queen in honour of their first joint engagement together. Aww!

It's not the first time Meghan has honoured Diana with her choice of accessories; on her wedding day, she wore a sparkling cocktail ring from Prince Harry's mother's collection.

Long may it continue, we say.
