Meghan Markle is tipped to give birth to her first child with Prince Harry any day now, after Prince Charles and make-up artist Daniel Martin teased the due date, and fans are waiting in anticipation for the news the royal baby has arrived.

But a recent post shared on Buckingham Palace's official Twitter account of a newborn baby, sent the entire globe into total meltdown with social media users questioning if the child in the photo was baby Sussex.

However, the image shared on The Royal Family Twitter account was of Sophie, the Countess of Wessex, on her visit to India to meet premature babies born with blindness as part of the Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Trust.

The post read: 'I was so thrilled to see the work supported by @qejubileetrust in action today screening & saving premature babies’ sight from Retinopathy of Prematurity. Congratulations to @MoHFW_INDIA, @thePHFI & the Trust for creating this remarkable legacy for the people of India - Sophie.'

Although royal fans felt sure this was the official announcement, this was a false alarm.

One commented on the tweet: 'Is that the royal baby from Harry? What about the Baby, is it still not born yet.'

The same image was shared on Instagram, which has also received an influx of questions. A separate Instagrammer commented: 'I thought the royal baby was born.'

Another added: 'Who else first thought that was Meghan's baby?'
